Process mapping for consultants

Walk into the first workshop with the as-is already drafted. Teams spend 40 to 60 percent of an engagement mapping the current state. ThinkPrior drafts it from the client's document pile, so senior time goes to the seams.

01 · The opening weeks draw the as-is

Who uses ThinkPrior on a client engagement?

Consulting teams use ThinkPrior when the first weeks of an engagement are spent turning interviews, SOPs, and policy binders into a picture of how the client works today.

Internal analysts run the same workflow. The input is the pile the client already has, not a system integration. Manual mapping of that pile takes one to two weeks of senior time.

ThinkPrior produces a first draft of the as-is map in hours, so the team spends the remaining time on the seams the documents never explained, instead of drawing every box from a blank page.

02 · The analyst still closes the seams

What does the analyst still do?

The analyst confirms scope, fills seams, and closes gaps with the people who do the work.

ThinkPrior does not run unsupervised discovery. A step is tied to a source passage, marked as an inference, or flagged as a gap. That review is the work a client will ask about, because a map that looks finished and is not cited is not something to put in a readout.

Exports let the team leave the workshop with the same map in the formats it already presents in, rather than redrawing it into the firm's template by hand.

03 · Client files that cannot leave the building

What if the client files cannot be uploaded?

Client NDAs often forbid sending SOPs and transcripts to a vendor cloud.

The on-premise appliance keeps those documents on the machine you run. ThinkPrior does not receive the files. Model calls go only to the models you configure, and the appliance is air-gapped only when those models never leave the client network.

A cloud engagement remains available when the client accepts an isolated vendor environment. The analyst workflow is the same on both, so the engagement plan does not change with the deployment.

Manual mapping takes one to two weeks of senior time at $200 to $500 an hour. Spend it on the seams instead.
